The Steering Committee met in Maranello

The meeting of the Steering Committee of the Progetto Rete Nazionale Città dei Motori took place on Saturday, the 10th of June at the Ferrari Museum, in Maranello. The Steering Committee (Comitato di Pilotaggio - CdP) met to discuss the general progress of the ongoing activities related to the project. More specifically, the focus was on:

- "Innovatour" (the organization of three events in the partner municipalities, to promote the theme of innovation, which links other factors of excellence of the territory).

- European Road Show (moments of exchange, mission and focus group with local administrators and investors from 3 European cities that have similar features to those of the municipalities of the network).

The members of the CdP - which regularly meets - are the President of Città dei Motori, the members of the Board and the Secretary of Città dei Motori, as well as the representatives of the Provinces of Modena and Pisa, and those of the TECLA Association. Its main function is to manage the project's governance and to produce, through the support and activity of the technical coordinator, specific implementation guidelines for the benefit of the various geographic areas involved. This is the place where the various requests can be analyzed and thought through.

Turin: "Muoversi con leggerezza” at the MauTo

Until the 12th of November, it will be possible to visit “Muoversi con leggerezza” at the Museo dell’Automobile di Torino. The exhibition, in collaboration with Progetto Experimenta della Regione Piemonte – Museo Regionale di Scienze Naturali, consists of 7 exhibits. With an interactive and didactic approach, each of them illustrates the fundamental themes to be addressed in the design of a car: safety, reliability, engines, materials, consumption, emissions, electronic and computer technologies, comfort, recycling. "The exhibition – according to the President of the MauTo Benedetto Camerana - confirms two main strategies for our museum. The first one is to be a crucial place for the discussion on innovation and on car and mobility technology. The second one is the commitment to the didactics, training and education, which are fundamental elements that confirm the international role of the Turin area in the automobile world".

“Rosse di sera” parade in Modena

On the 6th of July, the event "Rosse di sera - Reds by sunset", organized by Scuderia Ferrari Club Modena Motori with the patronage of the Comune di Modena and Registro Italiano Veicoli Storici. On display, high prestige sports, vintage and contemporary cars, under the mid-summer sunset colors, in the spectacular Novi Park of Modena, in front of the historical Foro Boario palace, on the rings of the circuit of the ancient hippodrome, where the car parade took place. The open-air art exhibition – which was free for visitors - was an opportunity for young people to get to know the entrepreneurs and to understand the opportunities behind the theme of "enterprise successions", the generational shift in the management of companies providing goods and services, and the employment opportunities.

Historical reenactment of the Milan-Taranto motorcycle race in Pontedera

Pontedera welcomed the 31st edition of the historical reenactment of the longest, most engaging, exhausting motorcycle marathon on stage until 1956: the Milan-Taranto, started in 1919 with the name of “Freccia del Sud” ("Southern Arrow"), from Milan to Caserta, which later became Milan-Naples and in 1937 "Milan-Rome-Taranto". The convoy was welcomed on Tuesday the 4th of July, by the delegated Councilor of Pontedera Eugenio Leone, Pontedera Moto Club and Vespa Club Pontedera, for a visit to the Piaggio Museum before departing for the second timed stop-over. “Another appointment of the program Pontedera, Città dei Motori”. According to Leone “this is the city of the Vespa and one of the most important Italian motoring cities, which this event will help to become well-known throughout Italy, as well as a part of the route for tourism related to motors. This historical reenactment anticipates the events that will take place in September to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Motoclub Pontedera".

“Lungo l’Appia dei traini”, an event presented in Pratola Serra by its Mayor Aufiero

On Sunday, the 2nd of July, the 2nd edition of "Lungo l’Appia dei traini", organized by the Pro Loco of Pratola Serra (AV) and sponsored by the Municipal Administration and the Associazione Nazionale Città dei Motori took place. The event – according to the new Mayor of Pratola Serra, Emanuele Aufiero - draws inspiration from the history and wants to reenact the stay of the carters (and their horses) in Pratola Serra, along the Naples-Foggia trade route, traced from the Via Appia, to emphasize the evolution of the motive power. Pratola Serra has a strong engine vocation, from examples of industrial archaeology to the production of aluminum engines by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, which has been in our region for a long time now. It is no coincidence that Pratola Serra is among the founding members of Associazione Nazionale Città dei Motori, which is doing so much for the promotion of the Made in Italy motoring sector and not only that”.

Porsche Rally in Varano on Saturday, 1st of July

On Saturday, 1st of July, the "Porsche Varano Rally" came to its third edition at the Autodromo Riccardo Paletti: it was a day entirely dedicated to the Porsche brand, to share the passion and fun on the track. "A real Porsche car party with vintage cars such as the magnificent 356 Pre-A, the iconic 911s of the '70s, as well as the refined 991. There were also Macan and Cayenne SUVs and Panamera sedans" – said Andrea Carra, the organizer of the Rally and councilor of the administrator of the Varano racetrack (PR).

Mandello: Motoraduno Guzzi comes back in September

The 96th Motoraduno Internazionale Città della Moto Guzzi will be held in Mandello del Lario (LC) from the 8th to the 10th of September 2017. The program was presented at the Sala Pirelli di Regione Lombardia by the President of the Comitato Motoraduno Internazionale and the Mayor of Mandello, Riccardo Fasoli - who, in front of the regional councilors Mauro Piazza and Antonio Rossi and the representatives of Piaggio and Guzzi, presented to the press and the fans a program (more varied than last year), for which over 20,000 enthusiasts arrived in Lake Como, in the area close to Lecco. It will be a weekend for historical motorcycles, customs, café racers, regularity, motorcycle tourism, as well as for the desire to welcome and care about not only the enthusiastic motorcyclists, but also children, teenagers and families, with fireworks, music, art and exhibitions as well as with the visits to the landscape and architectural beauties that Mandello can offer.

Samarate: great party for MV Agusta and Magni

On the 24th and 25th of June, the 23rd edition of the Revival MV Agusta took place in Cascina Costa di Samarate (VA), the historical headquarters of the MV Agusta brand. It was an important event in the vintage car world, with rare specimens of race and road cars on display for visitors, collectors and enthusiasts. This was an occasion to celebrate the 110th anniversary of the birth of Domenico Agusta, founder of the homonymous helicopter company and patron of MV Agusta. There are many champions that have made the MV Agusta brand famous, such as Giacomo Agostini, Carlo Ubbiali, Gianfranco Bonera, plus the drivers and teams currently involved in the championships with MV Agusta motorcycles. MV Agusta’s vintage motorcycles as well as modern ones were the protagonists of this space dedicated to the 17th MV Agusta Owners Meeting, while in the area dedicated to the 12th Magni Owners Meeting all the owners of the Magni motorcycles gathered to remember the legendary Arturo, the man who led the MV Agusta race department.

Alfa Romeo: celebration for 107 years of history at the Arese Historical Museum

On June 24th, the Alfa Romeo brand celebrated its 107th anniversary with a series of initiatives that animated the Arese Historical Museum for the entire weekend. Free guided tours to discover all the details of the history of Alfa Romeo, events for clubs, Alfa owners and lovers of the brand, but also for families and tourists with a program that started on Saturday 24th with the conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Alfa 164, followed by the parade on the track of the Museum. A great opportunity to visit the Alfa Romeo Historical Museum in Arese, displaying 69 models which made history in the four wheels world and that marked the evolution of this famous brand. From the first 24 HP, to the winners of the Mille Miglia such as Tazio Nuvolari’s 6C 1750 Gran Sport, from the 8Cs Touring to the Grand Prix 159 "Alfetta 159", World Champion Formula 1 with Juan Manuel Fangio, without forgetting iconic cars like the Giulietta of the 50s or the 33 TT 12.

Paolino Teodori Cup in Ascoli Piceno

The 56th edition of the Paolino Teodori Cup took place from the 23rd to the 25th of June on the legendary hairpin turns that lead from Colle San Marco to San Giacomo. This historical uphill time trial, valid for the International Hill Climb Cup, the Italian Mountain Championship, the Italian Mountain Trophy, has seen all the most prestigious Italian racers at the starting line, as well as a vintage car race. There were over 10,000 viewers along the route of this event. Despite the difficulties that emerged in recent seismic events, according to Massimiliano Brugni, City Councilor for sports, "the organizing staff did an excellent job to help the Cup Teodori growing. Our administration will always be on its side for a race that, other than adding so much value under the sporting point of view, also adds a lot to the image of the territory. With all the difficulties of this last year, I'm proud of this continuity. "
